- Tuvar dal - 3 tbsp
- Chana dal - 2 tbsp
- Onion(chopped) - 2 nos
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -
- Jaggery(Sharkkara) - 1 piece
- Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
- Sambar powder - 4 tbsp
- Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
- Tamarind(Lemon size) -
- Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
- Salt(As reqd) -

Instructions
- For preparing vethakuzambu - brahmin special, first fry mustard seeds, tuvar dal and chana dal in coconut oil.
- Add onion and fry for few minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, salt, red chilly powder, sambar powder, jaggery and cook for a few minutes. Add asafoetida and keep cooking till the dish becomes thick and gravy like.
- Add curry leaves.
- Vethakuzhambu - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
