Bachelor Kothu Porotta also termed ‘Celon Porotta’ is a popularly enjoyable street food originating from the state of Tamil Nadu in India. This is a satisfying and delicious food commonly enjoyed with college students and bachelors. Bachelor Kothu Porotta is prepared using fresh or leftover flaky porottas which are chopped and stir fried with a flavorful and aromatic mix of spices and vegetables and sometimes with meat too. This is a versatile food that can be customized as per personal preferences. The preparation typically starts with tearing of porottas into small pieces, which are then combined with a medley of fried onions, green chillies and spicy ingredients. You can adjust the spiciness as per demand to provide an aromatic and vibrant appeal. For those who want to enjoy a non-vegetarian twist, you can add scrambled eggs or shredded meat. The meat should be pre-cooked and mixed well with the the porotta pieces and vegetables allowing the flavors to blend well perfectly.

The uniqueness of Bachelor Kothu Porotta lies in the rhythmic mixing of chopped ingredients. The chopped porottas, vegetables and flavorings are rhythmically combined using spatulas on a hot tawa creating a clanging and delightful sound that can be heard from a distance. The distinct sound is synonymous with stalls selling hot and fresh Kothu Porottas which adds to an overall delightful experience. The final result is a lip smacking plate of Bachelor Kothu Porotta garnished with fresh coriander leaves and accompanied with salna or raitha. The hearty dish should be served hot and the unique texture blended with flavors serves as a perfect, complete and satisfying meal.
