  • For preparing Cheera Curry Malabar Style, first wash and clean the spinach well.
  • Separate the leaves from the stem and cut them into small sections.
  • Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Saute onion pieces, till they become soft.
  • Add the spinach or cheera along with the green chillies.
  • Add turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
  • Pour a little water.
  • Cover and cook for 2 mins.
  • Grind together the ingredients for grinding along with a little water in a mixer grinder.
  • :- This need not be made into a very fine paste.
  • Open the lid of the kadai and add the ground paste.
  • Mix well with a spoon.
  • Cover again and cook for another 3 mins.
  • :- The curry should be thick in texture. So limit the amount of water.
  • Remove the pan from the flame.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add the chopped small onions and curry leaves.
  • Saute, till the onions turn golden brown.
  • Pour the seasoning over the Cheera Curry Malabar Style and mix well.
