Kitchadi Combination of Vermicelli(Semiya) and Semolina(Rava/Sooji) 200 gm Fried Vermicelli (Semiya)100 gm Fried Semolina (Rava/Sooji)2 nos Onion (chopped)2 nos Tomato (chopped)Mustard seeds1/2 tsp Bengal gram (Kadalaparippu)1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)2 - Red chillies (Kollamulaku)1/2 tsp Turmeric powderCurry leaves (A few)Coriander leaves for garnishing(chopped)2 tsp Ghee3 cups WaterSalt (As reqd)2 - Oil Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds, Bengal gram and cumin seeds.When they splutter, add curry leaves, onion and red chillies and saute for 2 mins.Add tomato and saute again for 2 mins, until it gets mashed.Add turmeric powder followed by water and salt.Allow it to boil.When it boils, add vermicelli and allow it to boil for 2 mins.Add rava and mix well.Allow it to boil for 1 min.When all the excess water drains and it comes to the stage (like upma), turn off the flame.Add coriander leaves and ghee and mix well.:- Serve hot with coconut chutney. hi. Was looking for it since some time. gud one. I added a little chopped ginger and some cinnamon while frying the onions after spluttering mustard. Thats a nice taste too. Thanks
