- White gourd(Kumbalanga) - 1/2 kg
- Pumpkin(Mathanga) - 1/2 kg
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Red chillies - 4 nos
- Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
- Coconut(grated) - 1 cup
- Tuvar dal(Tumara parippu) - 2 cups
- Urad dal - 2 tsp
- Coconut oil - 2 tsp
- Salt(As reqd) -

- For preparing molagootal - brahmin special recipe, wash tuvar dal and boil in cooker with sufficient quantity of water and turmeric powder.
- Cut and wash white gourd and pumpkin. Boil in water. Add turmeric powder and salt.
- Add the cooked tuvar dal(step 1) to the cooked vegetable.
- Grind the grated coconut with red chillies and jeerakam.
- Add this ground item to the 3rd step and cook for few minutes.
- Fry mustard seeds and urad dal in coconut oil and add to the mixture.
