Today I’m sharing the recipe of Nadan Karimeen Fry. This is my all time favorite fish dish. This recipe is an exotic dish of karimeen fry cooked in traditional Nadan style. Spicy and flavorful Karimeen fry is tempting and irresistible and you will never say enough. The fried dish goes perfect with a bowl of white steamed rice. Pearl Spot also known as Karimeen is widely available in Kerala backwaters and this is a popular dish served in house boats. Since this is an exotic dish, Pearl Spot fishes are very costly nowadays so the general lot cannot afford to buy the fish. Karimeen or Pearl Spot fish is a favorite of sea food lovers in Kerala. The fish gets uniquely flavored with the sweetness of fresh water and the salinity of sea water. In Kerala, toddy shops offer Nadan Karimeen Fry shallow fried crisp in hot coconut oil.
Karimeen is rich in protein and omega 3 fatty acids. It is a low fat food that keeps our heart and brain healthy. Karimeen fishes are coated in the spicy aromatic masala before deep frying. Marinate well before deep frying so that the masalas penetrate well into the fish pieces. Fry the fish well and crisp so that the small bones will not hurt you. Be careful while kids are savoring the fish delicacy. Remove the bones and let the kids savor Nadan Karimeen Fry. Though costly, you should taste the wonderful delicacy. You should not miss out the exotic dish at least once in your lifetime. Pearl spot can be farmed under intensive farming techniques in freshwater and salt water eco systems in cages and ponds. You can explore a well detailed and step wise illustrated recipe here that can be easily prepared at home. Enjoy the favorite delicacy with your family.
