- Tuvar dal - 3 cups
- Ladies finger(sliced) - 5 nos
- Radish(sliced) - 1 no
- Carrot(sliced) - 1 no
- Pumpkin(sliced) - 100 g
- Onion - 2 nos
- Potato(sliced) - 1 no
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Sambar powder - 4 tbsp
- Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
- Asafoetida(A pinch, Kayam) -
- Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
- Tamarind(lemon size) -
- Ghee - 2 tsp
- Salt(As reqd) -

- For preparing podi sambar - brahmin special, wash tuvar dal and boil it with 4 cups of water with a pinch of turmeric powder in pressure cooker.
- While boiling, add sambar powder, red chilly powder and salt.
- Add the boiled tuvar dal(item 1) to this mixture and keep boiling for few minutes.
- Add asafoetida.
- Fry mustard seeds in coconut oil and add to this mixture.
- Add curry leaves. Podi sambar - brahmin special recipe, is ready.
