- Snake gourd(cut into small pieces) - 250 g
- Potato(cut into small pieces) - 1 no
- Onion(chopped) - 1 no
- Tomato(chopped) - 1 no
- garlic - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Green chilly - 1 no
- Red chilly - 1 no
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 spring
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Cumin powder(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
- Butter - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Sugar(A pinch) -

Instructions
- For preparing snake gourd/padavalanga with potato, saute the vegetables: snake gourd, onion and potato in hot oil for 5 minutes and add required salt.
- Make a fine paste of green chilly, garlic and cumin powder.
- Fry red chilly in hot oil and add the ground paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, curry leaves and 1 tbsp of water. Fry for a minute.
- Add the tomato and cooked vegetables. Mix well and add salt, sugar and garam masala.
- Pour 1/2 cup of water and cook covered for 5 minutes.
- Transfer into a serving dish and pour the melted butter over it. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Snake gourd/padavalanga with potato, a balanced as well as fibrous vegetable, is ready.
