  • 1/3 cup Sugar granulated
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 nos Egg separated
  • 2 cup Milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 package Vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 tbsp Sugar granulated
  • 2 cups Strawberries fresh or frozen, sliced
  • Baking dish as reqd


  • In top of double boiler combine 1/3 cup sugar, flour, salt, egg yolks, milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Cook and stir constantly, until custard thickens.
  • Line bottom and sides of a baking dish (1 1/2-quart size) with vanilla wafers, alternate layers of custard mix, wafers, and berries.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Add the 1 tablespoon sugar and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Spread meringue over custard and bake in a oven until meringue is nicely browned.
