Teasel Gourd(Akakarakaya) Bajji

  • 500 g Teasel gourd
  • 1/2 cup Onions finely chopped
  • 50 g Rice flour
  • 50 g Corn flour
  • 2 tbsp Red chilly powder
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Refined oil As reqd
  • Salt As reqd


  • Cut each teasel gourd into 2 or 3 round pieces(depending on size).
  • Take all other ingredients except oil into a bowl. Add water and prepare a medium thick dough.
  • Put a deep bottomed frying pan on the stove. Add oil and heat.
  • Dip the teasel gourd pieces in the dough, cover each piece adequately with the dough and carefully put one by one into the boiling oil.
  • Deep fry the pieces on medium flame until they turn into dark brown.
  • Serve hot with hot & sweet tomato sauce. Serves better as a snack item.
