Thinai Idly (foxtail Millets)

In olden days every one use have Millet daily. but now its less people are taking millet. we can use this millet in our daily food by adding extra of this millet.

  • 2 cup Thinai
  • 1 cup Idly rice
  • 1/4 cup Urad dal
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric


  • Soak thinai , idly rice , urad dal, fenugreek for 4 hours
  • Grind first urad dal fenugreek in grinder
  • Now add in that rice and thinai and grind for idly consistent .
  • Transfer to a big vessels for fermentation (10 hours)
  • After ferment add salt and little turmeric color
  • Pour batter into idly pan and steam for 15 -20 mis
  • After that allow to cool and remove, now its ready serve. serve with chutney and sambhar
