Arabic Tomato Chutney also known as Mandi Sauce, is a tangy and spicy flavored tomato based sauce served commonly as a side with Mandi, a traditional rice dish from Yemen. Mandi Sauce is very popular in almost all Arabian countries and is considered a must have dish with Mandi and other rice based dishes such as Kabsa. A beloved and favorite dish in Yemen, and the rest of the Arab world, Mandi is often served for occasional and special events such as weddings and feasts. Also termed as ‘Yemeni Sahawiq’, there is something very unique and special with the flavorful sauce. The sauce is typically prepared with fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, green chillies, lemon juice and coriander leaves. Also, there are many recipes available online for preparation of Mandi Chutney. But I have included the basic and traditional dish that includes just four simple ingredients.

These ingredients are blended together to create a spicy, flavorful Mandi Sauce that complements the flavors of the Mandi dish.
