Cabbage Dal

Spices (2 each half grinded):

  • Clove(Grambu)
  • Cinnamon(Karugapatta)
  • Cardamom(Elakka)


  • Roast moong dal till it changes its colour.
  • Wash it 2 to 3 times and cook it till done.
  • Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside.
  • Boil the shredded cabbage for a few minutes, drain out the water and add it to the cooked dal.
  • Take a separate pan and heat 2 tbsp ghee.
  • Splutter cumin seeds, red chillies, spices and green chillies.
  • When the spluttering stops, add the chopped tomatoes and saute it till the tomatoes blend well.
  • Add ginger paste, cumin paste, chilli paste, turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp of sugar and saute it.
  • Add the shelled green peas and saute it till the oil separates.
  • Pour the cabbage dal mix and stir it to bring it to boil.
  • Add salt and sugar according to taste.
  • Remove from fire and sprinkle ghee.
  • Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
  • :- Serve with rice.
