- Mussels - 25
- Rice flour - 500 g
- Coconut(half portion) -

- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp

For marination:

- Take all the ingredients need for grinding.
- Grind it well without adding water.
- Clean the outer part of mussels by scrubbing away all the dirt if any.Slowly slide thd knife through the slits and open them slowly without breaking the shells apart.
- Make balls of rice dough ,stuff the dough into the shells.shape them neatly.
- Steam cook the stuffed mussels for 30 minutes.
- Break open the shell and take out the cooked stuffing taking care not to break or part the mussels sticking to the shell.marinate the cooked mussels in masala.
- Heat oil in a vessel and fry it till golden brown in colour.
- Kallumakkaya nirachathu is ready now.Serve it with an evening tea.
