Kozhi Masala Malabar style chicken curry 2 lbs Chicken2.5 tbsp Coriander powder2 tsp Turmeric powder10 nos Dry chillies (Kollamulaku)6 nos Cloves (Grambu)2 nos Cinnamon (Karugapatta)4 nos Cardamom (Elakka)10 nos Pepper1 cup Grated coconut2 cups Onion pieces2 tbsp Broken cashew nuts1 cup Curd4 oz GheeSalt (As reqd) Make cuts all over the chicken. Grind the coconut well and keep aside. Grind coriander, turmeric, chillies, spices and the broken nuts together. Mix this and a little of the salt in some curd, spread all over the chicken and marinate for 2 hrs.Melt ghee in a pan and fry the onions to golden brown colour and keep it aside. Fry the chicken evenly.Blend the ground coconuts, curd and 3 cups of water and mix it with the chicken. Add the fried onions and close the lid and simmer over a slow fire turning it from time to time till the chicken is soft and the gravy is thick.:-Cut into pieces and serve. Kerala

I tried this recipe and enjoyed this. It has a totally different smell must be from the cashews and the ghee used. I have a suggestion not to use too much of the grated coconut…maybe half a cup ..but overall I really liked it…Thanks Ms.Varghese
