  • For preparing mackeral stew clean and cut each mackeral into two halves.
  • Apply ginger-garlic paste, garam masala and 2 spoons of oil to the fish pieces and marinate.
  • Add oil to a deep bottomed frying pan and heat. Add onion paste and fry until brown.
  • Add tomato pieces and the green chillies, mix well and allow to simmer on medium flame until the tomatoes are well done.
  • Add the marinated fish pieces, red chilly powder curry leaves and salt, mix well and add tamarind pulp.
  • Mix well, add some water and cook on medium flame until oil separates.
  • Top the preparation with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Mackeral stew is ready to serve.
