  • For preparing Muringa Ela Thoran, grind together grated coconut, garlic, cumin seeds, turmeric powder and green chillies in a mixer grinder into a coarse form.
  • Mix well together the above mixture along with the drumstick leaves and salt using your hands.
  • Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
  • Splutter mustard seeds and rice and saute red dry chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add the leaves mixture and mix well.
  • Cover and cook for 3 mins.
  • Remove the lid and mix well the whole contents.
  • :- In order to avoid the leaves from getting clustered or forming lumps, stir well using a spatula. Keep it on low flame, till done.
  • Enjoy the Muringa ela Thoran with rice or roti.
  • *Muringa ela – Leaves from Drumstick tree is considered to be very good for health. Take the stems broken from the tree, wash it well in water and keep it to drain the excess water off. Now, slowly, pluck only the leaves from it as the small stems, if included in the dish, would make it bitter. So, be careful while plucking the leaves from it.
