Pappadam mezhukkupuratti is a simple side dish recipe where the pappadams are deep fried in oil and stir fried with crushed dry red chilly and grated coconut. What is pappadam? Pappadam is a thin, crisp and disc shaped Indian food prepared from a seasoned dough of black gram(Urad flour), that is fried on high heat. Pappadoms are generally served as a side dish or as a snack. Now, Stir Fried Pappadoms is a variation from the usual fried ones. The best thing is that this is one of the easiest and most simple dish that we can prepare with the barest minimum of ingredients. Working moms and bachelors find the dish quite useful. Pappadam Mezhukkupuratti

Ingredients
  

  • 10 nos. Pappadam
  • 7 nos. Shallots
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 3 tbsp Grated coconut

Instructions
 

  • Cut the pappadam into small pieces like shown in the figure.
  • Fry the pappadam pieces in oil and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Then add thinly sliced shallots and saute till it becomes light brown in colour.
  • Now add chilly flakes and saute for 2 minutes in low flame.
  • Then add grated coconut and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the fried pappadam in it and mix well. Lower the flame and cook it for 5 minutes and remove from fire.
  • Tasty Pappadam Mezhukkupuratti is ready. Serve it as a side dish with rice.
