Ingredients
- Toovar dal : 1 cup -
- Finely chopped tomatoes : 2 nos -
- Garlic minced : 3 cloves -
- Turmeric powder : ½ tsp -
- Cumin seeds : 1 tsp -
- Asafoetida : ¼ tsp -
- Green chillies – 2 - 3 nos
- Freshly chopped coriander leaves : few -
- Vegetable oil : 2 tsp -
- Ghee : 1 tsp -

Instructions
- Rinse toovar dal and soak in water for 30 minutes.
- Chop the tomatoes fine and add to the toovar dal and boil in a pressure cooker 5 - 6 whistles.
- Heat oil and ghee in a pan over medium heat and add asafoetida, cumin seeds, minced garlic, chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute.

- Add boiled dal, 1 cup water, turmeric powder and salt and simmer on a low flame for approximately 10 - 15 minutes.

- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with steamed rice.
