Tamil Nadu Style Carrot Halwa

Tamilnadu Style Carrot Halwa is a tasty sweet made in just 15 minutes. Carrot halwa is prepared with finely grated carrot, creme, milk, sugar and cardamom powder. It can be quickly made for surprise guests. Everybody will like this south indian style sweet carrot halwa.

  • 4 nos Carrots 200 gm) (very finely grated or grinded
  • 250 ml Milk with creme
  • 1 cup Sugar 125 gm
  • 1 no Cardamom optional, Elakka
  • 10 nos Almonds grated
  • 10 nos Cashews grated
  • 2 tbsp Ghee


  • Finely grate or grind the well cleaned carrots.
  • Heat ghee in a tawa (preferably a nonstick tawa).
  • Add the grated carrots to it and saute well for 3 mins.
  • Add the milk and keep on stirring on a very low flame till the carrots get mixed well and well cooked(around 4 to 5 minutes).
  • Add the sugar and cardamom if needed.
  • Stir well for 3 - 4 mins.
  • You can see the halwa is cooked well and it gets separated from the ghee.
  • Now add the grated nuts and switch off the flame.
  • Transfer the content into a serving dish and allow the carrot halwa to cool.
  • :- Serve the Carrot halwa chilled.
