Beef Chatti Pathiri also termed 'Adukku Pathiri' is a famous North Malabar snack made during festival occasions like Ramadan and other festivities. This is a popular Muslim snack a favorite one throughout Kerala. Though a snack, the dish is a bit more heavier and filling. Preparing the dish is a bit tedious, you need some patience and a perfect vessel too for layering the beef filling. Beef Chatti Pathiri is unique and special with chappatis or pancakes layered alternatively with a spicy minced meat masala. This beef pastry is a very delicious dish and a compete meal by itself. This protein filled snack is very healthy and nutritious too. Kids as well as elders love the delicious snack. You can explore a well detailed snack here that can be easily prepared at home.
For preparing the dish, first marinate the beef in red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and salt as required. Cook it in a pressure cooker for 5-6 whistles.
Then add sliced onion and saute for few minutes. Finally add minced beef, chopped coriander leaves and combine well.
Turn off the flame and keep it ready.
Whisk 3 eggs with 1/2 tsp pepper powder and requires salt. Dip a chappathi in the egg mixture and place it on a greased saucepan as a first layer. Spread the beef filling evenly over the chappathi.
Dip the second crepe in the egg, Place it over the Beef filling. Repeat the process till 6 chappathis, the top layer should be a chappathi. If you have beaten eggs remaining, pour it over the top crepe layer. Drizzle with 2 tbsp of ghee over the top layer. Cover the pan with its lid and cook over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Cook till the bottom layer has turned light golden in color. Flip it over and cook for another 5 minutes.
