An easy halwa with chowari (sabudana/Sago) With Step by Step Pictures

  • Pearl Sago(Chowari) : 50 gm
  • Sugar : ½ cup
  • Ghee : 2 tsp
  • Mixed nuts : ½ cup (coarsly powdered)


  • First soak the pearl sago in water for 3 hours.
  • Drain out the water and lightly press it by hand.3) Pressure cook the sago for 2 whisltes.4) Strain water and keep this aside.5) Boil 3 cups of water, add sugar and boil for minutes. Let it reduce the quantity.
  • In a kadai, add the sugar caramalized water. Add the sago in it . let it cook until the water is not seen on top.
  • Add ghee in between. Stir well.8) Add the mixed nut and ghee.
  • when this mixture does not stick in pan, remove and serve hot.
