Ingredients
- Brown sugar(molasses) - 10 Oz
- Self raising flour - 8 Oz
- Butter - 4 Oz
- Egg - 2 nos
- Cocoa - 2 Oz
- Soda bi carbonate - 1/2 tsp
- Milk( 1/2 cup), 8 table spoons) - 1/4 Pint

Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 160c. Grease an 8 inch round cake pan.
- Take half the brown sugar and melt with half the milk over fire and add remaining milk and keep aside.
- In a deep bowl, cream butter till soft and fluffy.
- Whisk in the remaining sugar and eggs.
- Sift the dry ingredients together.
- Add alternately the remaining milk mixture and flour and pour into the greased pan.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for about 40 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted near the centre comes out clean. Leave to cool.
- 2)In a bowl, melt chocolate and butter in a microwave, stir until smooth.
- Split the cake in half, spread the icing on the halves, sides and top.
- Note: If using all purpose flour add 1 1/2 tsp soda bi carb and sieve twice with the plain flour.
- note : 1 pint = 2 cups of fluids
