400 g Fish (Pomfret/Avoli)1/2 cup Coconut milk1 no Onion (sliced, small)2 nos Green chillies (slit and deseeded)1 no Tomato (chopped, small)1/2 cup Coconut (gratted)1 tsp Fennel seeds1/2 tbsp Oil2 tbsp WaterSalt (As reqd)For preparing paste:1/2 tsp Garlic (chopped)6 nos Dry red chillies1 tbsp Coriander seeds1/2 tsp Pepper1/2 tbsp Ginger (chopped)1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)1/2 tbsp Tamarind paste1/2 tsp Turmeric powderWater (As reqd) First rub the fish slices with salt and turmeric powder. Keep aside for 10 minutes.Wash the fish pieces and drain well. Grind the ingredients: garlic, red chillies, coriander seeds, ginger, cumin seeds, pepper, tamarind paste, turmeric powder with little water to a smooth paste.Grind roughly the coconut.Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and fry Fennel seeds, onions to a golden brown color.Stir in tomatoes and the ground paste. Fry for few seconds till oil appears on top.Add ground coconut.Pour water, coconut milk and bring to boil. Stir in drained fish pieces, slit green chillies and required salt. Lower the heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until done.Goan fish curry is ready. Serve hot with boiled rice, bread etc. Goa
