  • 1 cup Fresh orange juice strain to remove seeds etc
  • Fresh orange rind Rind of two oranges
  • 1/2 tsp Orange essence
  • 1/2 tsp Citric acid
  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar


  • For preparing orange marmalade, cut off the rind of two oranges with a sharp knife. Do not penetrate deep since the white will be exposed.
  • Slice the orange rind into long, thin strips and soak overnight in enough water.
  • Next day, discard the soaked water and pour enough water into the orange rind.
  • Boil the water and cook for 45 minutes in medium heat until the rind is done.(You can also use pressure cooker to cook the rind)
  • Take a vessel and stir in sugar. Add orange juice, citric acid, cooked orange rind and remaining water.
  • Stir well and boil the mixture.
  • When a one string consistency is achieved, remove orange marmalade from fire and add orange essence. Stir gently.
  • Allow orange marmalade to cool well and pour in a glass jar with a tight lid.
  • Orange marmalade, a favorite spread for bread and cheese, is ready.
