Sadya Special Kootu Curry is a traditional styled dish quite popular in Kerala Cuisine. This is rated as one of the special dishes for a Sadhya meal. Both Yam(Chena) and Raw Plantain grow in my backyard and so we are lucky to have it fresh. Preparation of veggies like cleaning and dicing takes some time, but still the Sadya Special Kootu Curry gets well rewarded in the end, worth the effort. This is a typical Malayalee dish loaded with rich roasted coconut flavor and that makes the dish unique and special. As you know, Kerala is a blessed land, full of coconuts. So it is quite natural to discover such coconut roasted delicacies here. These flavorful Kootu Curry dishes are a real treat.

Sadya Special Kootu Curry is a wholesome and well balanced dish. Both yam and raw plantain provides a slight crunchy texture to the dish. Cooked chickpeas blends well with the texture. And the roasted coconut mixture binds the curry well. Anyhow all together works very well providing that unique aromatic flavorful gravy. Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup Chickpea Soak it in water for 8 hours
  • 1/4+1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2+1 tsp Salt
  • 1+1 cup Water
  • 1 &1/2 cup Raw plantain
  • 1 &1/2 cup Elephant foot yam
  • Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
  • 3 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder
