- Toor dal : 1 ½ cup -
- Potato : 2 nos -
- Onion – 1 no (chopped -
- Tomato : 3 nos -
- Capsicum : 1 no -
- Garlic : 1 tsp (chopped) -
- Ginger(garlic paste : 1 tsp) -
- Garam masala : ½ tsp -
- Cumin powder : 1 tsp -
- Green chillies : 4 nos (chopped) -
- Coriander leaves : few -
- Mustard seeds : 1 tsp -
- Cumin seeds : 1 tsp -
- Curry leaves Few -
- Salt : as reqd -
- Oil : as reqd -

- When done, mash the potato and dal with ladle. 4) Keep this aside.5) In a pan, heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds. Add cumin seeds followed by onion and garlic.
- Fry for a while. Add the ginger garlic paste, green chillies and curry leaves. Add capsicum and fry again.7) Add half of the chopped tomatoes. When tomatoes become soft, add dal and cook again.
- Add garam masala and cumin powder.9) Add little water,salt, rest of tomatoes and a tsp of ghee/butter on top. Cover and cook for 3 minutes.10) When it becomes thick, remove from flame.
- Special potato dal curry is ready.
