Appam Batter

Appam batter made with white rice and aval

  • 1 1/2 glass White rice Pachari
  • 1 1/2 glass Rice flakes aval/poha
  • Water For grinding
  • Yeast A pinch
  • Salt As reqd
  • Sugar As reqd


  • Soak rice for 5 hours before grinding.
  • Soak aval for 15 minutes before grinding.
  • Grind separately with required water.
  • Add salt and yeast(dissolved in luke warm water)
  • Mix the batter very well and keep for 6 hours over night.
  • Morning we can add sugar for taste. Mix well.
  • Make very soft and yummy appam using appam chatti.
