- Broken raw rice(Nurukku pachari) - 250 g
- Small onions/shallots(cheriya ulli) - 15 nos
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Coconut(grated) - 1 coconut
- Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds(Uluva) - 1 tsp
- Ghee(As reqd) -

Instructions
- For preparing jeeraka kanji, grind 11 small onions, grated coconut and turmeric powder well using a mixer grinder.
- Then boil water, add coriander powder, turmeric powder and fenugreek it. Cook well(water¦s measure is taken according to the rice)
- When the kanji is cooked well, add the coconut mixture that we had prepared first and stir it well.
- Fry four red onions in some ghee.
- Add the brownish cooked red onions to the prepared jeeraka kanji and boil it again for some time.
- Jeeraka Kanji is ready. It¦s a healthy drink for sick people and during the time of fasting.
