Thoran Cabbage-Long runner beans(Payar/Achinga) thoran 500 gm Cabbage, Longrunner beans (finely chopped, Payar/Achinga)2 tsp Coconut oil1/2 tsp Mustard seeds1 tsp Black gram (Uzhunnuparippu)4 nos Dry red chillies (cut into 2 - 3 pieces, Kollamulaku)Salt (As reqd)2 - Green chillies (finely chopped)1/4 tsp Turmeric powder1/4 tsp Red chilly powder1 cup Grated coconut1/4 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)2 sprigs Curry leaves2 nos Garlic pods Crush coconut, cumin seeds, curry leaves and garlic. Boil the vegetables in a pan along with salt and chillies. Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.Splutter mustard seeds followed by black gram and dry red chillies.Add tumeric powder, chilly powder, boiled vegetables and crushed mixture. Mix well.:- Serve hot. Kerala
This recipe made lots of sense! All the others just had regular chinese skillet fry kind of recipe…did not feel like the ones aunties make over here in the US…I made this and it turned out like the true Kerala cabbage thoran. THANK YOU Anita Jacob!!
