Chettinad Milagu (Pepper) Kuzhambhu is a traditional South Indian kuzhambu made by blending black pepper corns with other spices. It has a nice aroma and it is an unique dish from Chettinad Cuisine.

  • 1 tbsp Milagu bell pepper
  • 4 Red chili
  • 1 tsp Channa and urad dal
  • 2 tbsp Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Tamarain water
  • Salt as per taste
  • 10 chopped Shallots
  • 1 string Curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Asafeotida
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard


  • In a pan add tsp oil and roast bell pepper, red chili, channa and urad dal and fry and allow to cool
  • Now grind in mixie and make coarsely
  • Now add coconut and grind well with little water and make fine paste
  • Now in a pan add more oil and temper mustard and curry leaves and asafeotida and and shallots and saute well
  • Now add paste and mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Now add tamarind water and cook well and salt
  • Now cook for 10 minutes in a medium flame. when oil comes out turn off.
  • Now its ready to serve Chettinad Milagu Kuzhambhu
