Chicken Curry In Chettinad Style

Ingredients

Chicken legs cut in 2 or 3 pcs : 1 k gm
Poppy seeds
/khus khus : 2 tsp
Coconut
grated : ½
coconut
Fennel seeds
: 1 tsp
Coriander seeds
: 1 tsp
Whole jeera : ½ tsp

Cinnamon : 1”pc
Green
cardamom

Star anise
: 1 no
Turmeric powder
: ½ tsp
Garlic
ginger
paste : 1 tsp
Onion
chopped : 1 large
Medium sized tomatoes chopped : 3 no
Lemon juice (optional) : 1 no

Chopped coriander : few

Salt
: as reqd
Instructions
Roast whole
red chillies
, jeera,
coriander seeds
,
fennel seeds
and whole
garam masala
.
Enter Step
When this is roasted, add
poppy seeds
/ khus khus and roast for a minute and keep aside.
In the same pan roast the grated
coconut
till it turns slightly brown in color.
Enter Step
Grind the roasted ingredients and
coconut
together to a fine paste.
Heat
oil
in a pan and fry chopped onions till golden brown.
Add
garlic
ginger
paste and sauté for 2 - 3 minutes.
Add the
curry leaves
and ground paste and sauté till the
oil
separates. You can add a little
water
to cook the masala.
Enter Step
Add tomatoes, red
chilli powder
,
turmeric powder
and
salt
and 2 cups of
water
and cook covered for 5 - 10 minutes till the tomatoes turn soft.
Enter Step
Add the chicken pieces and cook for 10 minutes or till the chicken is tender.
Enter Step
Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves and serve.
