Traditional Kerala Puttu is a delicious and healthy breakfast dish in Kerala Cuisine. Kerala Puttu is one of the simplest of breakfast dishes with a crumbled texture and appearance. Preparing Puttu is an apt choice when you are in a hurry and you want something filling and nutritious for your body. Roasted rice flour is sprinkled with water and required salt. You can blend the crumbled rice mixture in a blender for best results. This is a hundred percent vegetarian dish with not a drop of oil. Instructions
- Take the crumbled and moist rice powder in a blender and blend. Too much blending will make the puttu powder too much moist. One single run is enough.
- For making puttu a special steaming vessel is used named puttukutti. Put a tablespoon of grated coconut in the puttukutti and then put 2-3 tablespoons of moist rice powder. Repeat till it is filled.
- Close the lid and steam the rice mixture for 2 minutes. Serve the delicious Puttu with kadala curry or a combination of sugar and bananas. This is a healthy breakfast dish, very popular in Kerala.
