Ingredients
- Green gram(Cheruparippu) - 1/2 cup
- Vegetables(cut into cubes) - 3 cups
- White pumpkin(Kumbalanga) -
- Raw banana(Pachhakkai) -
- Elepahant yam(Chena) -
- Snake gourd(Padavalanga) -
- Brinjal(Vazhuthananga) -
- Drumstick(Muringakka) -
- Jackfruit seeds(Chakka kuru) -
- Freshly powdered pepper - 1 tsp
- Coconut oil - 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
- Salt(As reqd) -
- Turmeric powder(A pinch) -
- Curry leaves(A few) -

Instructions
- Wash and soak the dal well.
- Cook the soaked dal and vegetables with turmeric powder and water for a while.
- Add pepper powder, salt and curry leaves.
- Cook, till the vegetables become soft.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Pour the above into the curry.
- :- Serve hot with rice, raitha and papadam.

Mulakishyam is the easiest curry that could be made.The way it is explained here, not so exciting. Just boil the required amount of dal,thuvara parippu , add either, kumbalam or kaya or chena with turmeric n red chilli powder. add salt bring to boil n pour coconut oil n add few curry leaves. Optional add hing.
This is not the recipe for traditional mulakoshyam. You do not splutter mustard seeds, once the vegetables are cooked you pour a little raw coconut oil on top.
