Plantain Stem Porridge

plantain stem porridge is a very different and delicious recipe which is rich in calcium and good fiber content. This is very simple to make in a few minutes. This can be consumed even as a soup in evening times. In this soup ragi flour is added to enrich the taste as well as it serves as a thickening agent. We add ginger garlic for flavoring but you can avoid it and serve as a baby food too. This porridge will taste good even with sugar instead of pepper and salt.

  • plantain stem chopped 1 cup
  • plantain stem juice 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • pepper 1 sp
  • ginger garlic crushed 1 sp
  • ragi flour 3 sp
  • butter 1 sp


  • finely chop some banana stem and also make a glass of juice in it
  • in pan add butter and saute the chopped cubes
  • add crushed ginger garlic paste
  • now add the juice ,salt and pepper
  • separately dissolve ragi flour in water
  • add it to the boiling porridge
  • simmer and serve hot
